An M2A1 Bradley passes the wreckage of an Iraqi BMP-1. Like other armored fighting vehicles, the Bradley is equipped with several outlets to accommodate external stowage. Perhaps the most obvious examples are the fasteners for so-called “pioneer tools.” Found on the upper sides of the vehicle, these external fasteners secure shovels, axes, and other items that assist in the maintaining the Bradley’s operational abilities in a tactical environment. The rear stowage boxes located just below the taillights provide adequate storage for first-aid items among other pieces of equipment. On the rear of the turret, the mounted ammo racks provide a ready source of ammunition. (US Army)
